Assetto Corsa Rally – Initial Impressions
I'm running Assetto Corsa Rally on a VRS DirectForce Pro wheelbase, Heusinkveld Sprint pedals, and eSim Racing Labs motion, and right away the force feedback impressed me. On dirt and tarmac the wheel feels alive—there’s a clear vibration when the tires start slipping on pavement, and the weight shift on gravel is spot-on. The feedback through both the wheel and the motion platform works together to really let you feel the car’s attitude so you can correct it naturally.
Setup was pretty standard for a sim title, and the UI was straightforward and easy to work through. The only issue I hit was that my custom button box wouldn’t register as an input, which I’m hoping gets resolved in a future patch. On the positive side, SimHub support is already in and works great, which is huge if you’re running dashboards, shake kits, LED strips, or motion add-ons.
The road feel is excellent. Every bump, rut, and surface change comes through clearly, and the two available tracks definitely aren’t forgiving. That unforgiving nature makes nailing clean runs really rewarding—you earn those good times.
Honestly, I think this might be the new rally game. After all these years, it genuinely feels like Richard Burns Rally might finally get dethroned as “The Rally Game.” The tire model and road physics feel incredibly grounded—maybe even better than EVO.
One more tip: if you already own Assetto Corsa EVO, you can save a few bucks on Steam by buying the bundled version instead of purchasing Rally standalone. Definitely worth doing.
These are just my early impressions, but so far, they’re very positive. I’m excited to keep driving and really hope to see a strong modding scene grow around it.
